Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO – WAYLLABAMBA:
We will pick you up early from your hotel for the start of our tour. We will head for Ollantaytambo, where those who wish to can eat breakfast, buy some snacks, or purchase bamboo poles, which will be very useful during the walk. We will then continue in our vehicle to Km. 82 Piskacucho (2700 meters above sea level), where the access to the Inca Trail is located. Here, we must show our permits and identity documents, before beginning our Inca Trail walk. After around 2 hours’ walking, we will arrive at Patallacta (2750 meters above sea level), an archaeological site with a major Inca structure, where our guide will explain the history of the site. Following our visit, we will eat a delicious lunch prepared by our experienced cook and his team. After lunch, we will continue the walk to our first campsite at Wayllabamba (3000 meters above sea level), where we will eat a snack while we wait for dinner. After our evening meal, it will be time for a good night’s rest in our tents.
DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – PACAYMAYO
After a nutritious breakfast, we will continue our walk with a gentle 9-kilometer ascent to the pass known as Warmiwañusca (“Dead woman”), the highest part of the Inca Trail (4200 meters above sea level). This part of the Inca Trail has many steps, making our route more demanding. Some members of the group will need to take this ascent slowly. Once all the members of the group have gathered, we will continue on our way, but this time we will be descending along a stairway, where the trail and the views will offer an unforgettable adventure. During this section, you will be able to enjoy a variety of flora, and the views that make this route so unique. After arriving at our campsite, at Pacaymayo (3600 meters above sea level), we will eat dinner and camp for the night.
DAY 3: PACAYMAYO – WIÑAYHUAYNA
In the early morning, we will eat breakfast and with renewed energy continue our walk along a 15-kilometer route filled with vegetation, where we will be able to enjoy a series of archaeological sites, each of which served a different function. The first archaeological site we visit will be Runcurakay (3970 meters above sea level), which has two towers that command a strategic view over the valley. We will then continue to Chaquiycocha, where we will rest as we enjoy a delicious lunch, before continuing our walk as far as Phuyupatamarka (“Above the clouds”). Along the way, we will pass through a tunnel carved from the rock, before arriving at Wiñayhuayna, another marvelous complex where we will spend the night. The route will take us around 7 hours.
DAY 4 WIÑAYHUAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
We will wake up at around 4:30 a.m. and eat breakfast, before saying goodbye to our team of cooks and porters and beginning our descent to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, where we will be able to see the sunrise. We recommend that you carry a flashlight during this part of the route. We will pass the final control point and continue to Inti Punku (“Sun gate”), and on to Machu Picchu, where we will have a spectacular view of the majestic Inca citadel. Upon arrival, you will be able to leave your things in storage, before beginning the guided visit to the archaeological site. We will visit the most important and impressive parts of the ancient Inca city. At the end of your tour, you will be able to continue on foot or take the bus to the small town of Aguas Calientes, where there will be time to eat lunch. Heading to the train station for the return journey to the small town of Ollantaytambo. From here, we will take a tourist bus to the city of Cusco.

Whether you are short on time or just prefer to do a shorter part of the Inca trail this tour does not disappoint. Our guide Jhimmy was amazing. I have some knee issues and he was very patient and made several stops. He also was very knowlegeable. We passed several ruin sites along the way to Machu Picchu. Posted on LexDVerified AMAZING, thanks Andy Andy was a super guide, really funny and patient, it was an amazing experience, i 100% recommanded !
